FOUND - WTB - 4.3L chevy engine
preferably out of a later 90's S10, small block V-6. Astro van will work, I think.
I'll take a complete junk vehicle if it's under $500, but it's got to be closer to me. :smt002

Some have a deep back oil pan. If you find one like this plan on changing the pan because the deep ones find the rocks. Joe.

Unless you want to have an auto trans, you would be better getting one from an S-10 that already had a manual trans. It's out of your apparent price range, but in '04 I got an '02 motor with 18,000 mi from a place called s10warehouse in FL. I got the motor, full wiring harness (even the tail light sockets and under dash fuse block), the full exhaust with all the cats and O2 sensors, and the ECU for $1425 shipped to my door. I even got photos of the rolled Blazer it came from and the dash's odo reading.

Re: WTB - 4.3L chevy engine
While that is all true, it gets down to how much it will cost for all the parts and adapters you need. The closer the motor is to the end game, the less parts you have to buy.
In my case I had the opp to buy an auto ver of the 4.3 from that same company with 29k mi and for $100 less, but the cost of the flywheel alone was more than the difference.
