Post subject:  Great Jeep YJ Dash Replacement

My YJ's dash was getting a bit ratty after too many changes, so I decided to 'flat dash' it myself. Fortunately while doing research, I ran across this web site and Dan Dillner. Dan and I have been e-mailing back and forth every day for 10 days now getting my own design exactly as I want it. Each dash is laser cut then finish welded/bent by Dan. We all like to fab our own stuff, our usual first thought to get it done. Considering the price, workmanship, and Dan's professional approach (we spoke on the phone for 30 mins, besides e-mails) , I decided to let him do the work. I have enough other things to fab myself.

Here is one of three CAD views Dan gives you. I'm using Autometer gauges. I won't have metal in my hands until later in the month. We spent a lot of time on every detail, 1/4" here/there. This was the first he did with 5x7 speakers, so we spent a lot if time getting the grill size right and positioned right. I have a front half roll cage that has a triangle plate that bolts to the dash with those 4 small stock dash mounting holes shown, so the speaker had to clear that as well as being the right size. The gauge holes are short tubes angled left and up to point to the drivers head more. He welds speaker mounting studs and studs for the OEM YJ heater control panel to the back side.
