Re: Rear Dana 44 Disc brakes 86 CJ7
more issues: I took out the CJ Pro valve and added a TJ Rubicon pro valve bleed lines that made it worse!
Disc/Disc pro valve no residentual or metering valves
Disc/Drum had both the above valves
metering valve has a delay to the front brakes residentual valve at 10 lbs for rear to over come springs
I may have to upgrade my CJ7 master/booster

Re: Rear Dana 44 Disc brakes 86 CJ7
I think I found my problem, my rear bleeders were frozen so I bleed them from the lines. I found out I can not do that. I think I still have air in my lines. So I will try a EZ out and new bleeders. Thanks

Go one bleeder out and the other one well no ,So I got a new caliper instlled the brakes. pumped them out opened one bleeder then the other a couple of times. This is my half ass bleeding for now. but I did get fuild to the rear and refilled the master. Tommorrow I will get a bud to help me out. I seems better allready.

Re: Rear Dana 44 Disc brakes 86 CJ7
Ok all bleed much better ,but not real improvement over rear drums. only that I will not have to adjust all the time and disc's are self cleaning.

Re: Rear Dana 44 Disc brakes 86 CJ7
I agree. I didn't feel much of a difference switching from drum to rear disc either. The rear breaks are only around 15% of your total stopping power. The front does most of the work. The advantage is just like you said: easier break jobs, self cleaning, less specialty tools required, improved break balance, self adjusting. Happy to hear you got everything figured out. Re: Rear Dana 44 Disc brakes 86 CJ7
The self energizing feature of drum brakes does not work in reverse. You should find your disks work much better backing down hill than before.
